Meeting of the State Council Commission on Energy

heads of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, representatives
of relevant federal and regional executive bodies, as well as members of the academic
community and organisations of the fuel and energy sector.
The meeting participants discussed proposals within the energy sector
for potential inclusion in new national projects focused on technological
sovereignty. They also examined the current state of affairs in the coal
industry.
In his opening remarks, Igor Levitin Levitin IgorAdviser to the President, Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in Transport noted that proposals for new
national projects should be aligned with the strategic goals outlined by the President in his Address to the Federal Assembly. He underscored the need for cohesive collaboration among relevant ministries and the State Council Commission
on Energy to adopt an integrated approach and incorporate input from regions in shaping national projects related to emerging energy technologies.
Department heads from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Industry and Trade provided updates on their ongoing efforts to develop new
national projects focused on technological sovereignty. Representatives of regional executive bodies, research institutions, and businesses presented
their recommendations for advancing new energy technologies.
Addressing the second item on the agenda, Sergei Tsivilev Tsivilev SergeiMinister of Energy of the Russian Federation highlighted
the challenges faced by the coal industry. He cited factors such as declining
global coal prices, limitations on coal export via rail, and shifts in customs
regulations, all of which adversely affect the budgets of coal-producing
regions. Sergei Tsivilev proposed a series of measures aimed at improving the situation.
The proposals approved during the meeting will be
forwarded to the relevant federal executive bodies for further consideration.
